Author Guideline

Guidelines for Researchers

Submission of Research Articles

A research paper must be submitted by the researcher and sent to the editor by email, together with a cover letter. After a research paper has been successfully submitted, the recipient will notify the sender within 72 hours that the manuscript has been received successfully. If researchers have questions about the journal or the preparation of their research papers, they should communicate through email rather than in person.

Afaan Oromoo is the working language of the journal. Research articles submitted to the journal must not have been previously published or submitted elsewhere for publication. All individuals who participated in the research must be properly acknowledged in the submitted research paper.

A research manuscript that is not accepted for publication will not be returned to the researchers. All researchers who submit manuscripts for publication are required to accept and follow the journal's guidelines.

Preparation of Research Articles

All research papers published in this journal must be written in Afaan Oromoo. The manuscript must be prepared on A4 paper (8.27 × 11.69 inches) using a standard 12-point font, with double spacing between lines and paragraphs. The left and right margins must be at least 1 inch (2.5 cm), beginning from the first page or title page. The lines within the margins must be numbered consecutively from the beginning of the manuscript.

The Times New Roman font must be used consistently throughout the entire research manuscript. Researchers must follow the writing and formatting style prescribed by Jornaalii Dilbii Qorannoo. During the submission and review process, every research manuscript must be written exclusively in Afaan Oromoo and must respect the rules of the language, culture, traditions, moral values, and identity of the community.

Researchers who do not have sufficient knowledge of Afaan Oromoo are strongly advised to work with researchers or editors who have a good command of Afaan Oromoo and can properly edit their manuscripts to meet the journal's requirements.

Structure of the Research Paper

A submitted research paper should contain the following sections:

  1. Title and author information
  2. Abstract and keywords
  3. Introduction
  4. Methods
  5. Data analysis
  6. Conclusion
  7. References

1. Title and Author Information

The complete title of the research article, the names of the authors, their institutional affiliations, and the author's email address must be included. The title must be in Title Case, in 11-point bold font, with the first letters of the words in the title capitalized. The title should be positioned slightly toward the center from the left side. For domestic publications, authors must write their own names followed by their fathers' names. For international publications, they should write their father's name first and then their own name. Honorific titles do not need to be included.

2. Abstract and Keywords

The second page should always contain the abstract and keywords. The abstract must contain no more than 250 words and should present, in an appropriate sequence, the background or starting point, significance, methods, findings, and conclusion of the research in a clear manner.

Between 3 and 5 keywords or short phrases suitable for describing the research should be listed below the abstract. Authors should avoid using words that are difficult to understand or terms that are already very common and widely known. Where necessary, editors may revise the keywords to make them appropriate to the journal's standards without consulting the researchers.

3. Introduction

The introduction should contain:

  • The background of the topic
  • The rationale or starting point of the research
  • The objectives of the research
  • The scope or boundaries of the research

4. Methods

This section explains the methods used to conduct the research. The theories used in the study must be explained clearly and understandably. The methods employed should be based only on original sources. The explanation should be written in a credible and understandable manner. The methods used to analyze qualitative or quantitative data must also be clearly indicated.

5. Data Analysis

This section presents the analysis of the data obtained. The researcher should explain the data collected through investigation and how the data were analyzed. The presentation should be clear and concise. This section should answer the fundamental research questions that formed the basis of the study. The writing must maintain logical consistency and proper organization from beginning to end.

6. Conclusion

The conclusion is an independent brief statement or a summary of the analysis and findings. It is acceptable to present the conclusion and findings together under the same section. Findings should be clear and concise and should be based on the objectives of the research.

7. References

All sources cited in the body of the manuscript must be included in the reference list. Likewise, every source listed under references must be cited somewhere in the body of the manuscript. Unpublished sources and personal communications must be listed according to the journal's citation requirements. The term “unpublished” is indicated with an asterisk (*).

References must follow APA style.

In-text Citation Format

One Author

The author's name and year of publication should be included.

Two Authors

The names of both authors and the year of publication should be included.

Multiple Authors

The first author's name should be written, followed by the phrase “et al.” in italics, together with the year of publication.

Reference List Format

All references must be listed in alphabetical order. Following APA style is mandatory.

Types of Contributions/Opinions

Field research should be presented according to the data obtained and the research process followed. Authors who have not conducted research in a particular field but have new work or interesting findings may also write and publish them in an educational format. In general, the following types of contributions should be understood:

1. Current/Contemporary Perspective

These articles present current information and ideas, contemporary directions, issues related to the research topic, and new theoretical developments in the field of study.

  • Abstract: 250 words
  • Keywords: 3–5 words
  • Main body: Up to 25 pages
  • References: At least 10 sources

2. In-depth Perspective

The topic should address an issue that has not yet been adequately explained. It is expected to provide a basis for conducting an in-depth discussion of a particular field or issue.

  • Abstract: 350 words
  • Keywords: 3–5
  • Main body: Up to 40 pages
  • References: Up to 110 sources

3. Review Perspective

This type focuses on a topic that has not previously been adequately examined and presents a comprehensive review of the subject.

  • Abstract: 400 words
  • Keywords: 3–5
  • Main body: Up to 70 pages
  • References: The original document indicates approximately 320 references.

4. Forum Mini-Reviews

A forum mini-review should contain a discussion of a specific topic and include articles and relevant sections.

The document specifies the following:

  • Abstract: 200 words
  • Main body: Up to 15 pages
  • References: No more than 30 sources

5. New Theory

A new theory refers to the introduction of an idea that is new at the international level. An article written in this form should focus on new ideas, philosophy, and Oromo culture and should be validated through appropriate evaluation. It should contain:

  • Abstract: 250 words
  • Key points: 3–5
  • Main body: Up to 70 pages
  • References: 300 sources

The journal is also expected to facilitate discussion and renewal both during and after publication. A letter written to the author should ensure that the ideas and quality of the article published in the journal are improved. Up to four authors may participate in this type of contribution.

New Perspective/Findings

This section involves identifying and presenting something new. The importance of any new finding to the journal's field of study should be explained. The information presented should focus on significant findings. The format specified is:

  • No more than 800 words
  • Up to 8 references
  • No more than two tables or two figures
  • Up to four authors

The journal contains an Editorial Board, Editor-in-Chief, and Associate/Assistant Editors.

Decision

Authors whose manuscripts have been accepted will be notified through the website or by email.

The journal will also communicate, through a confidential website, various instructions concerning issues that need to be reconsidered in the manuscript.

At this stage, adding or changing sentences is prohibited. Punctuation marks should also not be changed because they may affect the meaning of words or ideas.

If it is necessary to change the title or other important information on the page, this may be done only by the editors.

The authors must ensure that all authors agree with any changes or corrections made to the manuscript by the journal organization.

A manuscript intended for publication must be returned for publication within 48 hours.

The revised manuscript should be submitted only to the person responsible for the journal.

Change of Ownership/Copyright

This section includes adding, removing, improving, and correcting ideas in the author's manuscript. Before the author's manuscript is sent for publication, matters requiring correction and editing are corrected by the Editor-in-Chief or General Editor. If any material has been corrected or removed, the reason must be explained. The revised manuscript is communicated to the author through online communication or other forms of communication such as email, letters, or an agreed-upon confirmation document. The manuscript is published while preserving the author's ownership according to the process followed by the relevant editor.

Letter to the Editor

The journal sends a letter to the editor concerning the manuscript to be published, taking into account the ongoing activities and the status of the manuscript. It facilitates revision and discussion with the author concerning the manuscript to be published. The letter is also sent to the author to help improve the ideas and quality of the article intended for publication.

Agreement

An agreement is made between the author and the journal organization. After the necessary corrections and revisions have been made, and before the manuscript is sent for publication, the publication rights to the manuscript are transferred fully to the organization in writing. This is confirmed through a written and signed agreement.

Plagiarism Control Policy

Plagiarism is presenting another person's work as one's own without permission, or presenting another person's technological invention or finding as one's own without acknowledging the original author. It also includes submitting a research paper based on such unacknowledged work or using another person's work as the basis for a research submission without proper attribution. Therefore, the journal's plagiarism policy does not tolerate or permit any such practice.
